The inverse spectral problem for indefinite strings

چکیده
Motivated by the study of certain nonlinear wave equations (in particular, the Camassa–Holm equation), we introduce a new class of generalized indefinite strings associated with differential equations of the form −u′′ = z uω + zuυ on an interval [0, L), where ω is a real-valued distribution in H−1 loc [0, L), υ is a non-negative Borel measure on [0, L) and z is a complex spectral parameter. Apart from developing basic spectral theory for these kinds of spectral problems, our main result is an indefinite analogue of M. G. Krein’s celebrated solution of the inverse spectral problem for inhomogeneous vibrating strings.

A Uniqueness Theorem of the Solution of an Inverse Spectral Problem
This paper is devoted to the proof of the unique solvability ofthe inverse problems for second-order differential operators withregular singularities. It is shown that the potential functioncan be determined from spectral data, also we prove a uniquenesstheorem in the inverse problem.
متن کاملThe classical moment problem and generalized indefinite strings
We show that the classical Hamburger moment problem can be included in the spectral theory of generalized indefinite strings. Namely, we introduce the class of Krein–Langer strings and show that there is a bijective correspondence between moment sequences and this class of generalized indefinite strings. This result can be viewed as a complement to the classical results of M. G. Krein on the co...
متن کاملTwo inverse spectral problems for a class of singular Krein strings
We solve the inverse problem from the spectral measure and the inverse three-spectra problem for the class of singular Krein strings on a finite interval with trace class resolvents. In particular, this includes a complete description of all possible spectral measures and three (Dirichlet) spectra associated with this class of Krein strings. The solutions of these inverse problems are obtained ...
متن کاملInverse scattering problem for the Impulsive Schrodinger equation with a polynomial spectral dependence in the potential
In the present work, under some di¤erentiability conditions on the potential functions , we rst reduce the inverse scattering problem (ISP) for the polynomial pencil of the Scroedinger equation to the corresponding ISP for the generalized matrix Scrödinger equation . Then ISP will be solved in analogy of the Marchenko method. We aim to establish an e¤ective algorithm for uniquely reconstructin...
متن کاملInverse Problem for Interior Spectral Data of the Dirac Operator with Discontinuous Conditions
In this paper, we study the inverse problem for Dirac differential operators with discontinuity conditions in a compact interval. It is shown that the potential functions can be uniquely determined by the value of the potential on some interval and parts of two sets of eigenvalues. Also, it is shown that the potential function can be uniquely determined by a part of a set of values of eigenfun...
